I just had my new iPhone in April, during a trip slipped into the pool from my pocket and fell into the water. I always thought that it suffered from water damage, or worse, it would not work.
Fortunately the water was only 30 cm deep (a baby pool), but the water completely. I never took it all so fast in my life! Once in my hand, I have the following:
Trying not to panic (that sounds stupid, but I think the most you can identify).
Light up the transparent cover on both sides.
Attempts to turn it on again (not – it could further damage the phone – I did not know)
If it did nothing, I took it in the sauna with me stuck and put it in a warm room too high not (- it, the phone can deform components and cause permanent damage – and if you do, then it is in the hand and avoid direct heat, and do only as a desperate measure to make it dry out).
After 5 minutes, still nothing. With the exception of the small sound on / off switch that the phone vibrates when I changed his position. There was still life in my phone! But no more.
In a desperate attempt to blow up the air I loved the pool. Not too close, but could not reach just enough for all parts of the hot air to dry.
In the car, stepped on the stove and put the phone for 15 minutes in hot air.
At home, I googled what to do. I saw some YouTube videos, how to dry out the phone open, but it looked complicated, and I had no tools is small enough.
For a while I have nothing. I’ve tested sync with my computer. Nothing (bad idea, either post to wait for more until you are sure that the moisture next to the phone).
Then I read this article about putting the phone in a plastic bag filled with uncooked rice. The rice would the rest of the moisture “draw” from the phone.
So that’s what I did. The article said 5 hours, but I waited two and tried again. Nothing. I had a cup of coffee, tried again – not now. Waiting for 5 hours or even longer. The longer do the patient, the better chance you have the phone all the liquid to the left, the less there is a chance that the iPhone is damage caused by a circuit connection – nothing.
After my second cup of (strong) coffee – I felt that I needed – I switched to the iPhone and wait for a while and think that it will not come back to life, I saw the silver-gray apple on the screen. It seemed forever until the phone started normally.
I closed my pen and began to “harm test”.
Everything works except the sound I was later found out because the phone is connected to a headset if it was not. This is not to stop the event after another 2 hours in the rice bag.
Finally, I tested sync and it worked fine.
As of this writing, a month or so passed, and the phone has received is in good condition but with a little warm during charging.
Of course, the best tip I can give you your phone is never to take in the pool and if you do, have very deep pockets.
Want more information I have written a detailed article.
Disclaimer – I am not an expert in iPhone water damage, and I can not accept responsibility for what happens to your iPhone if you do take the steps above. I just wanted to tell you what worked for me and it came out that I do a good thing and what not had such a good idea.
